Greetings! You’re invited to another exciting series of practice-oriented classes at the Toledo Zen center!Introduction to Zen Practice: Feet on the Ground, Melting the Heart, Opening the Eye & Extending the Hand explores the direct and practical ways that Zen practice heals the shadow side of modern life which some have termed the ‘Ice Age of the Heart.’ These sessions are ideal for those who wish to gain an overview of the Zen tradition as it is practiced and held by the Toledo Zen Center community. NOTE: this class is a 3-part 9-week series which is offered throughout the year and class sessions can be taken in any order.Session 1:  Explores the foundational practices of Zazen (seated Zen), Kinhin (Walking Zen) and Samu (working zen) along with looking at common pitfalls and hinderences to sustaining a nourishing Zen practice at home and in daily life.Dates: Three Sunday Afternoons from 2pm to 5pm Sept 25th, Oct 2nd and 16th

Fees: General $75. Seniors/Young Adults/Pledging Members $60. Please note that these fees do not include Dana for the teachers.

Dana (The Practice of Generosity):  Our intention is to make these teachings accessible to everyone, thus fees for classes are kept as low as possible. These fees are, however, a major source of operating income for TZC. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.  Dana (pronounced “dah-na”) is a Pali word meaning generosity. Dating back to the time of the Buddha, there has existed an interdependence between those who offer the teachings and those who receive them. The teachings are given freely, since they are considered priceless. Registration fees cover rental and other TZC expenses, none of this money goes directly to the teachers.  To allow the teachers to continue their dharma work, support from the students is needed. There will be an opportunity to contribute at the end of each class.
